On Saturday, Donna, David and Devin handed out literature from a booth at the Camarena Health Fair held at Pan American Park. We got to practice our Spanish, and many people signed our petition. We were aided in our Spanish conversations by Gloria Rodriguez, an HCA activist who also had a poison education booth. We were entertained by some colorful dancers. Near the end of the fair, Devin and Gloria gave a rousing speech to the assembled crowd, inviting everyone to come to our rally.
Donna and Gloria sell to the crowd.
Scary dancers. At three o’clock, as the fair came to an end, we had an enthusiastic crowd of 70 people ready to carry our signs. Men, women, and children, some in strollers, marched with us down Lake Street to Cleveland, around four lights, and back to the park.
Getting ready.
Here we go.
Nothing can stop us.
Alejandra Juarez and Gloria Rodriguez lead the march.
Yes on SB840! Back at the park, we talked to some activists among the
marchers, who asked us to please plan another rally where they could invite
more people. We expect to get together with them in about a month.
Alexandra Juarez with her family. Let’s organize another rally!
